The Burren

The Burren is a unique place with unique nature in the west of Ireland. It covers an area of almost 300 square kilometers in County Clare. The Burren is bordered by the magnificent Galway Bay in the north and the Atlantic Ocean in the west.

The Burrenīs is famous for its rare and diverse Flora. The Burren contains flowering plants such as the blue spring gentian, a flower of the high alpine slopes, and the maidenhair fern which is can normally be found in mediterranean climate zones.

The Karst terrain hides caves and caverns, such as Aillwee Caves, which is open to the public all year round.
